Designed for Swedish glassworks Kosta Boda by Sweden's most internationally celebrated glass artist Bertil Vallien, Black Elements House of Mystery Sculpture is part of the designer's intriguing Black Elements series of beautiful handmade sculptures. Vallien's preoccupation with the human head continues in this weighty crystal block consisting of an orange head encased within a black and clear house. A skilful use of shape and colour allow for a mesmerising display of artistry, different from every angle viewed.

Each sculpture is absolutely unique and the variations in the irregular pattern and shape from one piece to another are part of their appeal.

"I love to work with a theme. Glass offers possibilities that no other material can. It’s like the outpouring from a volcano where the glowing mass is rapidly transformed into ice. The challenge is to capture the look and the light at just the right moment to allow the glass to reveal its secrets.”
