About KONTOR 1710

Our Design Shop KONTOR 1710® stands for... ... a very special shopping experience: Instead of focusing on mass-produced products which are produced as cheaply as possible, our Design Shop focuses on distinctive design pieces, fairly produced, sustainable and extraordinary. You will find organic and fair trade delicacies and teas from various manufacturers such as Terre d'Oc or Les Jardin de Gaia, Mill & Mortar, Soul Spice or Yummy Organics from organic farming, partly certified organic and fair traded, as well as the limited monoprints of the artist Pernille Folcarelli or the home and bathroom textiles from Care by Me, The Organic Company, Bungalow DK and Skriver Collections. Our (small) furniture range is also constantly growing with the innovative Danish design company LindDNA. Small accessories and newly conceived household items also create the right mood in your four walls - just like the LED lighting technology by BELID from Sweden, which combines function and design with Scandinavian purism. With our offer we present you meanwhile more than 60 manufactories from Europe and the world. KONTOR 1710 - sustainability in life!

From the founder

Our concept store KONTOR 1710® allows you to browse through selected labels and new brands without any worries: It is a treasure trove for the wealth of ideas of creative designers and craftsmen who create objects using regional materials and often preserving a craft tradition that is only little respected. And it is the certainty of promoting fair working conditions and wages as well as resource-conserving production, regional trade relations and a fair pricing policy. With this combination, KONTOR 1710 offers a cozy shopping experience in our small concept store in Wyk.

How does the number 1710 come to KONTOR?

We have been connected to the island of Föhr for many years and always feel very comfortable. The memory of a warm summer evening on the beach of Föhr was finally the inspiration for the naming of our Kontor: On December 5th in the year 1710, Wyk auf Föhr was granted the right to hold markets ... and since December 5th, 2014 our customers in Wyk auf Föhr find our KONTOR 1710 - store in the Mittelstraße to stroll, experience and store!
