This glazed side plate from South African ceramicist Wonki Ware is delicately decorated with a subtle organic sand finish. Crafted from clay dug in the Eastern Cape, which is left to dry in the sunshine for five days and fire glazed, this side plate is characterised by its beautiful neutral hues and organic shape.

Earthy, organic pieces that exude a delicate feel, each and every item is unique and a true one-off. The ceramic studio was founded by Di Marshall in 2008, everything is made from organic, recycled South African clay, each item goes through around 14 pairs of hands before it’s considered to be completed. Giving back to the community from which her pieces are made is important to Di, and Wonki Ware has started a ceramic school to teach local South Africans about the art of pottery. “Developing our variety of shapes and patterns has given us the opportunity to be ahead of most trends, helping us create a classic product that’s timeless and vibrant”.
