La Mère, the first ceramic tableware line of Marie Michielssen, is a loving ode to the (grand-)mother figure and women in general. The tableware looks slightly nostalgic but is, in many ways, innovative because of its vertical structure. Each shape is unique and hand-moulded. All pieces are finished with a glaze in broken white or a warm dark brown, almost black.

The molding and finishing of this medium-sized plate with a white glaze and a black pattern attest to the craftsmanship of designer Marie Michielssen. Marie pays homage to all mothers with the illustration on this plate, making them the focal point of the La Mère collection.
