For his second book, Ben Pentreath has persuaded 10 of his friends to open their houses and have them photographed and described by Ben for this book. He has also included his own two homes (a flat in London, near his shop on Rugby Street) and his parsonage in West Dorset.
Pentreath's work encompasses architecture, interior design, shopkeeping and blogging . . . . his inspirations blog on the Pentreath and Hall site is always worth reading. In this book he tries to explore and appraise what he sees as the unique spirit of the English house. The chapters are split into London, Country and Country Houses and vary from a flat in St James's to a Jacobean manor in Oxfordshire. They are all of course an exercise in good taste - this isn't the book of Richard Billingham shot council flats. If Ben's style is something you admire then you'll be happy in these pages.
