During his forty -year career, Margit Koppendorfer has designed costumes for the greats of the history of the theater: characters from Shakespeare, Brecht and Handke, led by Berghaus, Peymann and Tabori, represented in Vienna, Zurich and Berlin.
Costume Designs presents the mixed media design sketches of Koppendorfer, often natural size, in transparent paper and reveals through these unique illustrations how the costume designer gives identity to the characters.
By alienating the real in a visionary way, a latent truth emerges. While the author Elfriede Jelinek and actress Maria Happel emphasize in her texts the masterful incarnation of the costumes and her characters, Margit Koppendorfer herself says of her work: "Dance in the set with my characters."
