This publication focuses on the depictions of cats in Japanese woodblock prints by Hokusai, Hiroshige and other artists.
It consists of a fold our concertina form publication of images of these woodblocks together with an accompanying paperback book that contains an inventory of those images and also an essay.
As the essay notes, 'In Japan, cats are of paramount importance. . . . . perceived as a good luck charm, cats can also play an evil role.'
The concertina image based part of this book has images on one side of the concertina only, the reverse side is blank.
