Eliots Book of Bookish Lists
This book is a classic in the genre of Christmas books that maybe first started with Schott's Miscellany. The lists in this book are all to do with literature and writers. Henry Eliot says that lists are the means by which we sometimes chose to grasp the incomprehensible: shopping lists, to-do lists, wish lists and bucket lists. The lists in this book a wide and varied and I can't help thinking that at least some of them would stand you in good stead for a future episode of Only Connect!
The lists that Eliot compiles in this book include a list of the Italian locations in Shakespeare's plays, a list of literary figures that have appeared on UK bank notes, a list of noms de plumes and a list of famous last words.
