This is our legacy. What Nudie Jeans is today began to take shape when one of our founders, Maria, noticed this particular denim. And it's no wonder it's exceptionally good looking: it has a deep, unbleached indigo warp, a vintage-inspired “raw” weft, a tight fit, a dry hand and a crisp texture. The best thing about this denim, though, is its aging property: how it changes with use. To understand it, let's get a little technical. The warp is first dyed in a dark sulfur dye and later in indigo. This dyeing technique gives Dry Selvage the deep, muted indigo blue hue that looks so beautiful, paired with our orange topstitching. It's also what gives denim its intriguing nuances as it ages. This is what we call a greenish denim, a denim that has a slight blue-green undertone that becomes more apparent with use. With years of wear and a few washes, as the dark denim becomes lighter in tone, the greenish tone begins to lean towards a shade between reddish and light blue. This is why it is so intriguingly pretty and has been in our collection since the inception of Nudie Jeans in 2001. We are very proud to offer the Gritty Jackson Dry Selvage. We take our hats off to Kaihara's denim and indigo artisans, forever. We recommend a minimum of 6 months of frequent use before the first wash. This way, you will have a nice pair of distressed jeans. It's a long time, so it's just a recommendation.
