An illustrated print depicting the scale devised by Sir Francis Beaufort in 1805 to measure wind speed, wave height and sea conditions. Sir Francis is buried in the church gardens of St John at Hackney, London. Part of the artist’s ‘Information’ series, this one colour screen print is designed and printed in London by James Brown.
James Brown is an illustrator, he designs and produces screen prints and linocuts from his London studio.
Trained as a textile and surface print designer, he worked in the clothing industry for over 10 years producing print designs for men's and womenswear before embarking on a new career as an illustrator in 2007.
Recent clients include The Poetry Society, The Guardian, The East End Trades Guild, Truman's and The Bishopsgate Institute to name but a few. James has also designed and produced bespoke prints for Cath Kidston and V&A Enterprises.
All prints are sent either flat packed in protective packaging or rolled in a sturdy cardboard tube.
