Herengracht is one of the three main canals of Amsterdam. A few meters from the famous "golden curve", Mariotti has chosen the four emblematic façades of nos. 415 to 421, singularly leaning, with their typically Dutch architecture. Above them appears the silhouette of the Church of Saint Francis Xavier, known as the Kritjberg. Mariotti adds some emblematic details of the city: bicycles, peaceful boat and of course the Amsterdam flag: two red bands, and three white crosses fluttering on the black Amstel river. They protect the city from the three plagues it had to face in the past: the plague, water and fire.
