With a strong belief in the power of the smile, Gustav Ehrenreich created his joyful Hoptimist movement in the late 1960s. The goal was to create a figure who would always be a reminder to stay positive and optimistic. While the 1960s are often referred to as "the happy years," the decade was marked by turmoil. Ehrenreich's design was therefore a welcome encouragement in an otherwise turbulent time. Bimble and Bumble represent the very first Hoptimists born from the hand of the designer: a dressed girl with smiling eyes and a cute boy with a split on his head. Today, the cheerful Hoptimisters are part of Danish design history and create joy all over the world.
