The front is made from vintage fabric that was hand-loomed and then dyed with natural indigo, using the ancient resist paste dyeing technique from China known as Lan Yin Hua Bu, and most likely dates from the early 20th Century. Each pattern was created from a hand-cut template, which was placed on the natural cotton fabric and covered with a lime and soybean paste. After the dyeing and drying process, this paste was scraped off to reveal a beautiful pattern. The back of the cushion is made from natural linen. The cover is closed with a concealed zip.
