He is a founding member of the Melodic Art-Tet, The Group and Nam bands, and Central Brooklyn Jazz Consortium. Abdullah is the musical director of Sista ’Place in Brooklyn and teaches music in the New School for Social Research in Manhattan and in a primary school in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn.
