Apartamento Arranging Things: A Rhetoric Of Object Placement Book
La Fábrica is one of Ricardo Bofill's most iconoclastic creations. The building, a former cement factory on the outskirts of Barcelona, which he accidentally discovered while driving, became the center of life of the late Catalan architect and has served him since 1973 both as a house and as a seat of his office. Here Ricardo created his own world by exposing the concrete forms under years of dust and smoke, bringing nature back into the structure and finely coordinated the balance between the monumental extent and delicate, human sensitivity in one of the earliest examples of the reuse of an industrial building - and it still changes. This new edition is expanding the book, which we originally published in 2018, with an exclusive archive image material from RBTA and an extensive selection of photographs that Nacho Alegre recorded during his visits to La Fábrica in the last decade. He returned in November 2022 to document the building in its current state and concludes the book with 32 pages of otherwise unseen images - a portrait of Ricardo's most valuable work in a moment. With an introduction of Pablo Bofill, the book also contains an interview with Ricardo itself, which was conducted by the architects Arquitectura-G and Guillermo López, based in Barcelona, an extended version of the conversation that originally published in issue No. 11 of the magazine APARTAMETO became.
