Verner Panton, 1959/60.

Miniature chair Panton.

Inspired by pop art and popular culture, the furniture design of the 60s broke with the purism of modern functionalism. The use of new materials released furniture from the limitations of traditional structures and has allowed designers to play imaginatively with shape and color. In international furniture exhibitions, designers as Verner Panton present interior landscapes of futuristic aspect that go with a hedonistic, easy and free lifestyle.

Verner Panton wrote from the works of him: I try to forget the existing examples, even if they are well done and find my own way of making peace with the materials. The result rarely has four legs, not because I do not want to make a chair, but by working with new materials such as wire mesh and polyester require new forms. The Chair Panton is considered today as one of the classics of modern furniture design. It was the first chair in the history of design in not having hind legs and being molded into a completely plastic piece. It costs almost 12 years of development before the idea could be implemented.
