Product details

The brooms are handmade by craftsmen in Wakayama prefecture, who bound shuro (palm) tightly with copper wire. The shuro is a tree in the palm family.

Shuro trees are used to make ropes and brushes. Shuro brooms have been used in Japan since the Edo period, 17th century. Shuro brooms are recommended particularly for wooden floors and tatami mats as the fibres contain natural oils that are beneficial to those surfaces.

It's a beautiful object with a great functionality.

Size: 27 x 72 cm

Material: Shuro palm fibre, copper wire, bamboo handle

Made in Wakayama, Japan
