The septum is the thin cartilage on the inside of the nose that separates the nostrils. If possible, the piercing should be made through the tissue below the septum as the cartilage can be very tough. The advised first change after piercing is 6 weeks and healing time is around 2 - 3 months. What is "Surgical Steel"? One of the most commonly used materials in piercings, as it is durable, lightweight, easy to clean, rust resistant and least likely to cause an allergic reaction.
