Common Name Cape Primrose, False African Violet
Origin Found on cliffs and rock faces in Kenya and Tanzania

Water Allow the top layer of soil to dry between watering; make sure the plant is not sat in soggy soil or completely bone-dry.
Humidity Average humidity is fine for the False African Violet, just make sure it's not too near a radiator or sat in a draught!
Soil Use a well-draining houseplant soil to ensure its roots aren't too soggy. A mix with added sand or coir would work well! Repot every 3-4 years in spring when not in bloom as the plant grows.
Food Feed every four waters in the growing season, reduce to every six in autumn and winter.
Temperature Average household temperatures of about 14-28°C are ideal- make sure it doesn't drop far below 12°C in winter.
Pet-safe Yes, but too much nibbling won't be good for pets, small humans or the plant!
Sprouts Top Tips To look after the flowers while your Streptocarpus is in bloom, make sure the soil doesn't dry out and deadhead to help it bloom even longer!
