As the weather finally gets warmer and summer plans are on the horizon, you may be wondering what to do with the longer nights and sunny weekends June brings. Fear not, Trouva is here with its monthly round up of events from our boutique community and beyond. From design festivals to creative workshops, here’s everything to see, shop and do this June.

1. Creative Workshops with Molly Bland at the Catch the Wind Kite Festival in Morecambe Bay

Celebrating its 30-year anniversary, Catch the Wind Kite Festival is perfect for the whole family. Find music, professional kite flyers, street performers and creative workshops, all with a focus on the natural world, climate change, the landscape and the future of the planet.

This year, catch Morecambe-based artist Molly Bland as she hosts an origami windmill making workshop on the promenade - flex your creative skills, and enjoy the sites of the sunny bay.

2. Birmingham Design Festival

Founded by Birmingham-based designers Daniel Alcorn and Luke Tonge in 2017, the Birmingham Design Festival has given some much needed recognition to the design hub of the West Midlands. Offering a packed programme of events and exhibitions, the festival is back with a bang for 2023, and set to get you inspired with its many attractions and workshops held by Birmingham-based creatives. From sensory food workshops to brand masterclasses, this is one not to be missed for creative minds, whether you're based in the Midlands or not.

If you’re looking for a new creative outlet, or maybe you’re looking for something a little different for your bridal shower, independent boutique Haus of Botanica has you covered. On the 24th June, you can head to their Stamford-based studio to learn how to create your very own bohemian inspired dried flower arrangement using a selection of neutral and textured flowers and grasses - perfect for your party to take away to decorate their homes, or you could even use them to supply the floral arrangements for your wedding reception.
