P: Playing

Matt Corby’s New Album - Everything’s Fine

Dreamy, with a few jazz influences - Everything’s Fine is an upbeat move on from Matt Corby’s past work (if you’re already a fan) with a few classic Corby melodies thrown in for good measure. It’s understated but full of heart, urging you to slow down and take some time out of the busy world we live in. It’s perfect for a slow evening at home, cooking and enjoying each other’s company, offline and present.

R: Reading

Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan

The Story of an Irish coal and timber merchant in the run up to Christmas in 1985, this tiny novel seems fairly simple, but in actuality it is so much more. Small Things Like These is a love letter to compassion and humility, a reminder that small actions can make a lasting impact, and not a single word is wasted. Artfully written and steeped with nostalgia, this book will leave you wanting so much more.

E: Eating

A Romantic Meal For Two at SpeedBoat Bar

Looking to spice things up this February? Look no further than Speedboat Bar. Our CRM Manager, Emma, has a table booked this V-day and is excited to try it for the first time - “I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews - It’s supposed to be fun, rowdy and packed full of flavour. It’s the latest opening from Luke Farrell and as close as we can get to a Bangkok canteen here in London.” We’ve heard on good authority this is some of the spiciest food in London - brace yourselves.

V: Visiting

The Bull, Charlbury

Since the early 1500s, The Bull has been the cornerstone of Charlbury. Historically a local pub, it now also boasts a fine dining restaurant centred around open fire cooking, cutting out the middleman between farm and plate. Perfect for a romantic countryside getaway, sample their culinary delights then settle into one of their luxurious rooms for a relaxing bath and a cosy king size bed - what more could you want?

E: Enjoying

Esther Clark’s Substack, The Good Home Cook

Level up your kitchen skills this February and become the best home cook you can be with Esther Clarks Substack, The Good Home Cook. From teaching you how to better put ingredients you may already have to good use, to helping you whip up the perfect chocolate cake, Ester’s tips and recipes are easier than they look. Our Brand Manager, Hannah, loves it - "The recipes are always super approachable whilst still feeling fresh and exciting, and her photography always shows the food in such a beautiful and natural way."

W: Watching

The Holdovers

The talk of the cinematic world this February, The Holdovers is a funny, genuine and oh-so-heartfelt film about a cranky history teacher that is forced to remain on campus at a remote prep school over the Christmas holidays with one of its students, and a grieving cook. A wholesome watch, with fantastic performances (an acting debut for Dominic Sessa,, who plays student Angus Tulley) that will leave you reminiscent of festive seasons gone by, and lost loves.
