Corner of My Home: Olivier De Croock

Discover the creative director's favourite corner in his perfectly curated Antwerp apartment.

Welcome to Corner of My Home, the series where friends of Trouva show us the most cherished part of their homes, from kitchen countertops to bathroom shelves.

When we first discovered Olivier De Croock’s perfectly curated Antwerp apartment on our Instagram explore page, its checkerboard rugs, mid century modern furniture and cult design classics caught our attention instantly. It’s clear that the creative director of Studio Croock and social editor at concept space Graanmarkt 13 is passionate about all things design, from interiors books to table settings and flower installations.

With plans to open a creative atelier in his native Belgium, we can’t wait to see the way the inspiration he draws from his travels - from colourful houses in Mexico City to decadent Venetian bedrooms - come to life in his next project.

Read on to find out more about how Olivier curates his favourite pieces, as we join him in the most treasured part of his home.

“My favourite part of the house is in the living room - one person can watch TV while the other one is chilling at the reading corner with a drink. You can find me there on most Sundays, just relaxing and taking in the creative pieces in my apartment.”

“My favourite pieces include my vintage bookshelf, which is useful and eye-catching at the same time. Next to it you can find our Kassl Editions sofa, designed by Muller van Severen. It’s really cool because if you have two of them, you can switch the cushions to different combinations - it’s also so comfy and soft. There’s also my Frama T-Lamp in steel, standing on a concrete stool by Marie Michielsen for Serax.”

“A lot of interior decorators, architects and friends inspire me. In Belgium we have tons of creative and world-leading designers, especially in Antwerp. I also get inspired by travelling and meeting other cultures. My dream home looks a little bit bigger than where I’m living now. A townhouse with a city garden where you can dream the day away. Something secluded but close to everything.”

“I’d add more books to this corner of my home. Rizzoli’s Joseph Dirand Interior is next on my list and would fit perfectly in my home.”
