This highest peak in Western Europe, was nicknamed until the 18th century the cursed mountain, so much it inspired fear in the inhabitants of the valley. So much so that the Swiss naturalist, Horace Benedict de Saussure, decided to offer a reward for his first ascent, thus thinking to unravel the mystery of the geological formation of the Alps. Jacques Balmat and Michel Paccard answered the call and were the first to reach the summit in 1786. Since then, Mont Blanc has continued to fascinate all kinds of adventurers and numerous routes now allow you to climb it with serious preparation. Despite the 7 annual deaths recorded, there remains the area of exploits, like that of the Catalan KÃlian Jornet, who climbed twice in the same day, in 2016. The Line represented the silhouette seen from the Aiguille de la Grande Sassiere.
