Hasami Porcelain Medium Black Porcelain Plate (185 x 21mm)
Formed from porcelain made from natural Amakusa pottery stones and mixed with potter's clay. Available in natural and black. Hasami Porcelain pieces of the same diameter can be stacked on top of each other, forming a beautiful rhythmic harmony. The stacking mechanism is inspired by tiered boxes traditional lacquer ware used in Japanese cuisine. This way plates also become lids for bowls; all pieces of the collection are multifunctional and complementary to each other.
Hasami Porcelain has developed traditional Japanese craftsmanship to create contemporary ceramics that adopt a chic, minimalist aesthetic alongside an innovative and functional nesting design. The brand’s homeware products are distinct in their soft and smooth texture and matte finish, which give the pieces a modern yet organic edge. Hasami Porcelain is named after the historic town of Hasami, which has been one of Japan’s foremost pottery regions for some 400 years. California-based interior designer Takushiro Shinomoto created the brand, when he and his wife opened Tortoise General Store in Venice (USA), in order to introduce and exhibit Japanese artists and products that use traditional Japanese techniques. Takushiro Shinomoto is also the Creative Director of S/N brassware.
