Sharing a name with esteemed gents such as the fella behind the checkered racing flag (and maker Lucy's Grandpa) the Sidney Cushion is knitted in Fair Isle in 100% lambswool.
The knit technique used to create the Sidney’s checkerboard design is one that involves process that often results in apparent gaps and small quirks in the knit. This does not effect the integrity of the product, and we think adds to it’s handmade charm. These gaps should ease and become less apparent as the cushion relaxes and softens with use. The Sidney Cushion comes intact with the inner padding, which has been sewn in, and can be washed as a whole unit. The knit has previously been washed at 30 degrees so it shouldn't be an issue to do so again, but we would recommend hand washing where possible.
Founded in 2020, sustainable homeware brand Goods of May became an interior design favourite with the launch of the Sidney Cushion, a square cushion with a textural take on the checkerboard revival. Creating playful and practical knitted cushions using 100% sustainably-sourced British lambswool, founder Lucy blends traditional craft with contemporary colour combinations. Each Goods of May piece is produced by hand in south London.
