Hardie Grant Books (UK) Power Of Cold Book
Sorry, this product is out of stock from Black Bough but we’ve found some alternatives for you.
As the subtitle suggests this is the companion book to Nigel Slater's Spring and Summer Greenfeast book that was released earlier this year. Again the focus in this second part is on vegetables - Slater is not going to fervently sing the praises of a vegetarian or vegan diet but what he is going to do with these books is just encourage you to eat more vegetables and meals that do not contain meat.
His recipes for autumn and winter fill the brief of being more cosseting and substantial than their spring and summer counterparts.
'There will be carbs. They protect and energise us. They bring balm to our jagged nerves. (Winter is nature's way of making us eat carbohydrates.)'
The book contains a whole section devoted to things to eat on toast:beetroot, apple and goat's curd, leeks, caerphilly and mustard and then delves into recipes to be cooked in the oven and dishes to be served with a ladle before finishing (as all good meals should) with pudding.
From the last section I have already cooked the chocolate and dulche de leche puddings and am a fully signed up devotee.
