At The Scandinavian Shop we love to celebrate iconic Nordic brands and those traditional crafts which have made a successful transition into the modern world. Flensted Mobiles is a perfect example of such a brand. Although the craft of making mobiles is very much a Danish tradition, the decorative style we see today was born out of an original design made by Christian and Grethe Flensted for their first child in 1953. Their design was hugely popular and eventually grew into a full-time occupation for the couple who then devoted their entire life to the creation and production of Flensted Mobiles which have since found worldwide appeal. Sill very much a family business, new and original designs continue to join a fantastic collection which ranges from modern abstract designs and special commissions for museums all over the world, to the simple and colourful mobiles which have become such popular and much treasured gifts for children
