This symbolic candle was made by mostly female craftsmen in East Java, Indonesia. In addition to subject-oriented training, employees are also given the opportunity to follow training courses in other skills, allowing them to develop broadly.
The production of these candles provides a steady income for many women, allowing them to support themselves independently. Since the land in East Java is not as fertile, the employment that is created is extra important. In cooperation with Plan International Nederland, part of the profit is spent on vocational training for mostly young women.
