“We believe in the colour of power and print,” says Stine Goya, founder of her eponymous label and the breakout success of the Scandi fashion scene. Having steadily built up a loyal fan base since launching in 2006, her unapologetically bold and bright collections are the go-to for those looking to inject more joy into their wardrobes. Ganni was founded back in 2000 as a quiet luxury cashmere brand, but when power couple Ditte and Nicolaj Reffstrup took the reins 9 years later, it drew the attention of editors from around the world at Copenhagen Fashion Week. Paving the way for a new wave of contemporary Danish fashion brands, it redefined the Nordic aesthetic - goodbye monochrome minimalism, hello print, colour and tongue-in-cheek playfulness - while fostering a sartorially savvy, eco-conscious community of #GanniGirls from London to L.A.

You’ll have spotted Stand Studio’s cult coats and handbags everywhere from Instagram to the streets of fashion month. Specialising in textural fabrics like shearling, faux fur and leather, and adding a Willy Wonka-like magic by way of giant checkerboard patterns and acid hues, Stand Studio’s colourful, fuzzy and sculptural pieces have been championed by the Scandi set since 2014.

Taking the classic rubber raincoat and reimagining it with a self-titled ‘neo-Scandinavian aesthetic,’ Rains has successfully turned a practical piece into a coveted style staple. Blending form and function, its unisex windbreakers, puffers, backpacks and bucket hats are wet-weather essentials for city dwellers and great-outdoors explorers alike.

Creative directors Helle Hestehave and Rikke Baumgarten founded their brand in Copenhagen in 1999, designing collections with women in mind who “want to have fun with their personal expression.” And boy, did they bring the fun. With graphic monochrome prints, luxe woollen knitwear and workwear-ready tailored trousers, the Copenhagen-based brand gives the minimalism Scandinavia made its name with a free-spirited ease.

Multidisciplinary artist Henrik Vibskov has built an all-encompassing creative world, rather than simply a ready-to-wear fashion brand. His boutique in Copenhagen is a space that not only plays host to his namesake label, but also gives both local and international musicians, artists and designers a collaborative platform. As for his wardrobe offering, think architectural silhouettes, technical fabrics and abstract prints.

Founded by sisters Anne Louise Faurholt and Emma Lohmann in 2016, Résumé encapsulates all the best bits of contemporary Danish style: bold hues, retro prints and playful silhouettes.
