About Garden State Candles

Garden State Candles was founded in 2017. Maya first started her small business out of her Berlin flat, humble beginnings which she is very proud of. The business grew, from flat to studio, to the opening of the very first brick and mortar - all within one year. Fast forward to 2020, Maya teamed up with two of her friends to open Schmilblick, which very quickly became the go to place for delicious French pastries and a beautiful selection of curated gifts and decor for the home. Her journey didn’t stop there. In March 2023, Maya opens her very own store located by the canal in Kreuzberg Berlin – a dream come true for the ambitious entrepreneur. Her vision had grown to focus on retail experience through collaborations, workshops and by introducing a brand-new sustainable decor service to her business clients. Finally, the brand wouldn’t be what is today without Louee, Maya’s adopted dog and the inspiration behind her brand. Maya donates a portion of the profits to animal rescue shelters worldwide – bringing more than just light into your homes.
